As a citizen who has lived in poverty his whole life, this PD could not be more discriminating when I voice my concerns (whether or not they seem significant to law enforcement personnel or dispatchers). According to the 14th Amendment of the United States constitution "no State shall...deny any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection under the law." The Clearlake Police Department's own mission statement reads, "Our mission is to enhance public safety by providing PROFESSIONAL, TRUSTWORTHY service, in PARTNERSHIP with the COMMUNITY," however apparently the POOR citizens who happen to be pedestrians cannot call the NON emergency number and simply request that the police make traffic stops at the four way stop at the Wal-Mart intersection, where drivers try to run me over. The dispatcher was extremely rude and hung up on me. If the department is "in PARTNERSHIP with the COMMUNITY" then why be disrespectful to citizens who are humble enough to make the time to call the police department concerning small issues? Especially when it comes to a situation where a car can hit a human being and cause injuries, why would the dispatchers not have the simple understanding that a vehicle can cause injuries to a human? To take 45 seconds to listen to these issues would show a lot of integrity. Also, why have a mission statement that encourages citizens to work with the community, and why should authorities ignore the 14th Amendment? It's obvious that the actions of the city council and police department don't show care for poor people. A very depressing way to begin the year in our unstable and struggling town.

The women who work dispatch are absolutely rude and have the worst attitudes when it comes to assisting citizens in emergent situations. The police don't show up to your home in emergencies (unless it has to do with a marijuana bust). They have one animal control officer(only on Monday - Friday). I recommend if you have a vicious animal or person on your property and you need help, forget calling the police station and utilize your second amendment rights. I don't see any tax dollars being spent in a proper manner. This dump doesn't even deserve a one star rating.

I have heard from many people that they treat you with disrespect after you call them a couple of times; as if it is your fault that so much crime is going on in the neighborhood and the criminal drugdealers around have no interest to report the crimes. Instead of being grateful and treat you with respect like I have experienced it everywhere else, here you get treated like crab. Dispatch is often rude and give you the attitude 'don't bother us; a lot fo times officers at the scene are in a rush and don't listen fully'. When it comes to crimes I have reported to them they don't seem to understand the gratification in importance when it comes to protecting citizens and prosecuting the bad guys. It seems like they don't distinguish between citizens wanting to report the crimes and sincerely tracking down the bad guys and the bad apples in town; be careful to talk to them, they don't seem to understand who is bad and who is good. Bad guys get a free pass often and citizens reporting the crimes treated like crab.

Dispatcher snapped at me and told me my call wasn't life or death ad rattled off a number I couldn't understand then when I call the non emergency number it's the same person..
